Transforming Our Minds:
Building An Ecumenical Catholic Vision

YMCA Retreat Center

Do not be what everyone expects you would be, but create something new by beginning with a new mind. Then you will be able to flow with the divine plan, judging everything according to that flow, moving according to what is positive, satisfying and complete.

Romans 12:2

Keynote Speaker – Anthony T. Padovano

  • Relearning Fidelity
Defining fidelity in ways that make institutional loyalty and personal integrity more substantial.
  • Seeking the Center
The New Testament search for the center and the imperatives and grace which compel us to continue that search.

Anthony T. Padovano holds doctorates and professorships in theology and literature. He is the author of twenty-seven award winning books and plays, translated into eight languages. He has been visiting professor at twenty five American colleges and universities, lectures world-wide and appears regularly in the media on both sides of the Atlantic. Dr. Padovano was the first elected president of CORPUS, dedicating ten years to this association working for an expanded and renewed priesthood of married and single men and women in the catholic church. He is a founding member and a distinguished professor at Ramapo, a four-year New Jersey State college, and has served, since 1986, as pastor of The Inclusive Community whose Catholics and Protestants worship together.

Retreat Conversations

Gifted members of the ECC have generously donated their time and talent toward facilitating workshop “Conversations” during our retreat. These Conversations are topics that we shall explore in our individual and collective discernment and do not necessarily represent any specific constitutional or theological direction of the ECC.

Please select up to 2 of the following Conversations and an alternate 3rd choice.  Participants will be able to attend their choices based on a first registered first served basis as seats are limited for each Conversation.

  1. Unity and Diversity in the New Testament Church
A model for the ECC and a template for ecumenism
Tony Bomkamp, Mary Ann Ekbring – Saint Matthew Church
  2. Listening for the Spirit
An experiential conversation of structured group discernment
Kae Madden – Church of the Beloved
  3. Transforming Our Minds

    Rev. Giovanna Piazza
  4. Living Out Our Catholic Tradition Today

  7. The final Conversation will be a panel discussion from three distinct Catholic Experiences of Transformation. This will take up two Conversations. However, you may wish to attend the first 90 minutes which will be devoted to an introduction reflection on each facilitator’s distinct catholic experience and then move on to a different Conversation for the remaining 90 minutes, designated for small group sharing.
